We are delighted to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of Salma and Moni, who participated in the 4th Engineering Postgraduate Conference held at Monash University on November 25th, 2024. This year's conference featured five dynamic research themes: Software and Hardware, Bioengineering and Biotechnology, Energy and Renewables, Infrastructure and Environment, and Fluids and Solids, showcasing a wealth of innovative research.
Salma also made her mark with an impressive poster presentation titled "FRET Characterization of Fluorophore-Quencher Pairs for Molecular Sensing in Photoacoustic Imaging." She is investigating how the distance between the fluorophore and quencher pair can affect the photoacoustic signal enhancement in the near-infrared region. We are thrilled to announce that her work received the highest score in her category and placed 3rd overall across all themes!
Under the Bioengineering and Biotechnology theme, Moni presented his research titled "Engineering tfdA Enzymes to Monitor 2,4-D Levels." Competing against over 40 participants, he proudly secured the 3rd Overall Oral Presentation Award! His work focuses on enhancing the stability of the tfdA enzyme through consensus design, along with evaluating the activity and thermostability of both wild-type and consensus-designed enzymes.
Beyond their research achievements, Salma and Moni excelled as co-secretaries of the conference committee, gaining invaluable teamwork and organizational skills from this incredible experience.
